Hoan Kiem lake

Hoan Kiem lake ( VietNamese: Ho Hoan Kiem, meaning " Lake of the returned Sword " or " Lake of the restored Sword ", also known as Ho Guom - Sword lake ) is a lake on the historical centre of HaNoi_the capital of Viet Nam.
The lake is one of the major scenic spots in the city.
According to the legend, Emperor Le Loi handed a magic sword call " Heaven's Will " which brought him victory in his revolt against the Chinese Ming dynasty.
On that day after victory, when King was boating on the lake, a golden tortoise came up out of the water to take back the scared sword that had been given him by the god to save the homeland in 15th century. So, it has present name.( The lake was formerly known as " Luc Thuy " meaning " Green water").
The Tortoise Tower (Thap Rua) standing on a small island near of lake, is linked to the legend.
Near the Northern shore of the lake lise Jade Island on which the Ngoc Son temple ( Jade mountain temple ) stands. The temple was built in the 19th century.
On an islet: dedicated to General Tran Hung Dao, 13th century, Van Xuong ( God of Literature ) and La To ( patron Saint of Physicians ).
Jade Island is connected to the shore by the wooden red-painted, Huc Bridge ( The Huc meaning Morning Sunlight Bridge).
